Gaining Balance in our Lives

Gaining Balance in our Lives

Life can be complex and balancing all its elements can be a challenge. As we explore how to craft your personal growth journey in this article we’ll be looking at how we can use the coaching wheel for life.

Building a healthy work-life balance is something we should all spend time doing. Simon Sinek has some valuable insights in his short video on the RIGHT Way to Do Work-Life Balance

A coaching wheel is an invaluable tool that can help you get a handle on your priorities and achieve a healthy balance. This wheel consists of eight elements: home, family, health & well-being, spirituality, finance & money, family & social activities, personal growth, love, and relationship.

Here is a closer look at each of these elements and how you can work to keep them in balance:

Home

Your home should be a place of comfort, safety, and security. A well-balanced home life includes a clean, organised, decluttered, and functional living space. Take time to create a home that you enjoy and meets your needs and can be your sanctuary away from the busyness of life.

Family

Family is important and is a source of love and support. Spend quality time with your family and cultivate positive relationships. Encourage open communication and make time for shared activities that bring you closer together.

Health & Well-being

Physical and mental health is essential to overall well-being. Incorporate exercise and healthy eating into your routine and seek medical care when needed. Also, prioritise self-care and make time for relaxation and stress-management activities.

Spirituality

Spirituality can give your life meaning and purpose. Engage in spiritual practices that resonate with you, such as meditation, prayer, or mindfulness. Spirituality can be an important part of a well-balanced life.

Finance & Money

Good financial management is key to reducing stress and ensuring a secure future. Set financial goals, create a budget, and save for the future. Seek financial advice when needed and make informed decisions about spending and investing.

Family & Social Activities

Socialising is important for our mental health. Spend time investing in your friendships and engage in activities that bring you joy. Joining a community group or hobby club can also provide opportunities for new relationships and shared experiences.

Personal Growth

Personal growth is a lifelong journey. Pursue education and self-development opportunities and set personal goals that challenge you and help you grow. You can read more about how to prioritise time for your personal development in our article Making Time for Personal Growth.

Love & Relationships

Strong personal relationships are key to happiness and fulfillment. Prioritise your relationship with your significant other and make time for intimacy and shared experiences. Seek help if needed, and work to resolve conflicts in a healthy and positive way.

The coaching wheel for life can help you to develop a framework for understanding and balancing the elements that make up our lives. Life is rarely perfect but by focusing on each element, you can work to create a well-rounded and fulfilling life. Remember that balance is not always achievable, but by making an effort to prioritise and attend to each element, you can live a happier, healthier life.

Aim Higher Training has produced a short online course Spotlight on Work/Life Balance which you can work through for free via our website

Over the next few weeks, we’ll address each element in more detail and drill down into how you can really examine each one. As you start on your personal growth journey it’s important to think about how you can improve the small things to make each element more rounded and help to build a better work-life balance.
